Sheriff Department Release
At 3:54 p.m. Thursday, May 23, Clare County Central Dispatch received a call of a car vs. pedestrian injury crash on First Street near Second Street in the City of Harrison. Deputies arrived at the scene and rendered aid to a 13-year-old Harrison male who was involved in the crash. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Hummer 3, driven at the time by 63-year-old male from Harrison, was traveling north on First Street when it struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian stated that he thought he could make it in time to cross the street when he stepped into the path of the Hummer. Due to the complexity of the pedestrians’ injuries, he was transported to the Clare City Airport where he was flown to Hurley Medical Center in Flint for treatment. He was reported in stable condition. The Clare County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Mobile Medical Response, Flight Care, and Fox Wrecker Service of Harrison.
Update:
At press time on May 28, the Cleaver spoke with Jenna Neill, mother of Wyatt, the 13-year-old crash victim. Wyatt was moved to Ann Arbor for non-life-threatening injuries. Neill requested books for Wyatt as he loves to read. He enjoys sci-fi, Manga, and graphic novels appropriate for a middle school reader. While the family hasn’t requested help beyond your prayers, their burden will be heavy during recovery. Gas cards and food cards will be collected to ease that burden of traveling to Ann Arbor. Drop off books, gift cards or other donations at the Cleaver, the Rustic Owl, or directly to Niell’s business Vibe with Me Salon and Boutique at 315 N. Second St., Harrison.
